GBPUAT claims to have scaled new heights in 3 years

GB Pant University of Agricultural and Technology (GBPUAT) has achieved various achievements in three years since Manmohan Singh Chauhan assumed charge as its vice-chancellor on August 29, 2022, averred the senior office bearers of the university. 

According to them, the university has made remarkable progress in the field of education, research and extension in these three years.  The accreditation work which had been pending for years was completed and 109 scientists were promoted. In another achievement, degrees were awarded to 4,809 students during the three consecutive convocations organised by the university. Besides, honourary degrees have been awarded to a number of prominent national level figures.

The university office bearers further said that infrastructure has also seen significant development in these three years
which included renovation of Gandhi Hall, Phoolbagh and Nagla Gate and inauguration of new hostels, research/teaching institute, women’s gymnasium, wellness centre, Vrikshayurveda research centre and student recreation centre.
The university has also made a historic jump in the QS World University Rankings, ascending from 311th place in 2024 to 209th place in 2025 besides ranking first among 71 agricultural universities in the country.

In the research sector, 22 new varieties have been approved; 13 patents, granted; four wheat varieties, registered and over 2000 research papers, published. Researches on honey, Badri cow breed and Pantja goat besides Uttarakhand’s domesticated fowl conservation initiatives have also gained new momentum. Further, MoUs have been signed with 52 international level institutions. Several accolades that the university has received are also being cited as an achievement.  These include Outlook Agritech Summit and Swaraj Award, Agriculture Leadership Award and Honorary Colonel Commandant title by NCC.

Over and above these, more than 10,000 training and demonstrations have been conducted to disseminate technology to farmers while more than 2000 farmer-friendly programmes have been broadcast from ‘Pantnagar Janvani’ community radio.

The senior GBPUAT office bearers attributed the extension of the VC’s tenure by six months to the string of achievements made during his three years’ stint as the head of the reputable institute.
