GBPUAT in 2025: Several research achievements  highlighted

While chairing a meeting of the Directorate of Research, the vice-chancellor of the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology,    Manmohan Singh Chauhan emphasised the need to make the university’s research activities more robust, effective and result-oriented. “Quality research not only helps solve problems facing farmers, agriculture and society but also strengthens the university’s national and international reputation,” he observed. He urged all to connect research with practical applications and to continue working toward commercialising technologies.

The director of Research, S K Verma presented a detailed overview of the university’s major research achievements in 2025. He stated that seed production from various crop varieties had been carried out at the university’s research centres, resulting in the production of a total of 7,540 quintals of certified seed for wheat, pulses, and oilseeds. He also stated that in 2025, 190 research papers had been published by university’s scientists. “Currently, the university is conducting 320 research projects worth Rs 7,853 lakh. Additionally, bio-efficacy projects worth several lakhs of rupees are in progress,” he said and added that six research schools are actively working at the university. He further said that the research projects include five costing more than Rs 1 crore, three costing more than Rs 50 lakh and several projects costing more than Rs 20 lakh. The university has commercialised three agricultural technologies and signed 11 MoUs with various institutions, he said, adding that the university has successfully organised the Agricultural Science Congress, farmer seminars and programmes focused on millets, playing a vital role in disseminating research findings to farmers.
