Govt implementing welfare schemes for martyrs & their families, claims Joshi

Sainik Kalyan minister Ganesh Joshi stated that the State government is actively implementing welfare schemes for martyrs and their families. He made these remarks during his visit to the residence of martyr lieutenant Pratik Acharya at Nashville Road on Monday as part of the Martyrs’ Honour Yatra 2.0.
During the visit, Joshi paid tribute by honouring the martyr’s portrait and collecting soil from his courtyard. He extended an invitation to the martyr’s family to attend the Martyrs’ Honour Ceremony, which will take place in Lansdowne on October 5. Joshi also said the construction of a Shaurya Sthal at Guniyalgaon in Dehradun, where soil from the homes of all martyrs from the State will be installed. The Martyrs’ Honor Yatra 2.0 will conclude in Lansdowne on October 5, where chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will honour the families of the martyrs.
He emphasised that the Martyrs’ Honour Yatra is dedicated to the immortal martyrs whose legacies of valor will continue to inspire future generations.
Joshi further informed that the State government is consistently enhancing welfare schemes for martyrs and their families. Notably, the one-time ex gratia grant given to martyr families has been increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. Additionally, the amount provided to Param Vir Chakra-decorated soldiers and their widows in Uttarakhand has been raised from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore. Uttarakhand is also the first State in the country to appoint ex-servicemen as block representatives and offer them honorariums, which have now increased from Rs 8,000 per month to Rs 10,000 per month.
