With increased humidity in the wake of incessant rains negatively impacting people’s health, the number of patients, down with viral fever, cough and cold and skin ailments, thronging B D Pandey District Hospital is surging.
Speaking of the sudden spike in patients suffering from rain- triggered illnesses, a senior physician of the hospital, Dr M S Dugtal said that due to humidity rise and temperature fluctuations during the rainy season, people increasingly fall prey to diseases. “We advise people to change their wet clothes and shoes at the earliest; otherwise the risks of catching skin and other infections will rise,” he said.
He also urged people to dry the body, particularly feet, if they get drenched. “Besides, they must pay special attention to cleanliness during this health-wise volatile time. If symptoms of fever, cold or skin infection appear, they should take medicines only after consulting a doctor,” he cautioned, adding: “if they remain a little cautious regarding their health during the rainy season, they might largely stay safe from infections and other seasonal ailments.”
