Aware of the vehicle owners’ soaring craze for luxury registration numbers alongside luxury cars, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Haldwani conducted an online auction for the UK04AR series fancy numbers on Friday. The highest bid was placed for UK04AR0001 and it was sold for a whopping Rs 7.49 lakh. Other notable bids included: UK04AR0009 – Rs 5.07 lakh, UK04AR0007 – Rs 3.31 lakh, UK04AR0003 – Rs 1.57 lakh and UK04AR0004 – Rs 91,000.
Speaking on the registration number online auction, the regional transport officer (Administration), Gurdev Singh said that the entire auction process had been conducted transparently. “Owning an exclusive registration number has now become a status symbol for many luxury vehicle owners,” he added.
