Higher Education Dept signs MoU with dozen institutions

To enhance the quality of higher education in the State, make it more innovative and employment-oriented, Education minister, Dhan Singh Rawat, has initiated the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with a dozen  institutions across the country.

According to officials, this initiative provides training for students in various subjects, such as digital and future skills, soft skills, scientific research, life values and de-addiction. Additionally, the quality of education is being improved by offering advanced training for teachers.

The department has signed MoUs with several institutions including Infosys Springboard in Bengaluru for digital skills training, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru for science class training and IIT Kanpur for the Saathi Kendra scheme. Other agreements include collaborations with Vigyanshala Rohini in New Delhi for the Kalpana She STEM programme, Roots to Roots in Noida for arts and Indian culture education, the Prajapati Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya in Rajasthan for de-addiction awareness and Mahindra Pride and Naandi Foundation in Hyderabad for soft skills training. The department has also partnered with NASSCOM for digital and future skills training, Wadhwani Group in Bangalore for life skills training and Tata Group in Mumbai for skill development and employment. The officials said that the department has entered into an agreement with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Kerala, which will support students and teachers in research and other scientific activities through its Material Science Centre and virtual lab. Additionally, free technical training will be provided to students and faculty in higher educational institutions through the Edunet Foundation in Bangalore.

Rawat stated that MoUs have been signed with various esteemed institutions nationwide to promote value-based education, as well as research and innovation in higher educational institutions. With the assistance of these institutions, multiple training and awareness programmes are being conducted in colleges and universities, directly benefiting students and teachers.
