Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that though much has been achieved in the 25 years since Uttarakhand was created, all must lend new energy to the efforts to built a prosperous, stong and self-reliant State.  He said this while speaking at the State foundation’s silver jubilee programme in the Bharatiya Janata State office here on Saturday.

Addressing the media on the occasion, the CM said that the silver jubilee of the State’s creation is not just an occasion to celebrate 25 years of Uttarakhand’s creation but also an opportunity to present a development roadmap to the public for the next 25 years. He said that President Droupadi Murmu addressing the special Assembly session in Dehradun on November 3-4 is a matter of pride for the State. Detailed discussions will be held on the State’s integrated development, achievements and plans for the future during this session.

Dhami further said that various programmes will be held across the State from November 1 to 11 to mark the silver jubilee of the State’s foundation. With the celebrations starting on Saturday with the celebration of Igas, an ultra marathon will be held at Joli Kong in Pithoragarh on November 2, the President will address the Assembly on November 3, a Pravasi Uttarakhandi meet will be held in Doon University on November 5, a Rozgar Mela will be held on the next day along with a Yuva Mahotsav and ex-servicemen’s meet while a ceremonial parade will be held on November 7 and a meeting of statehood activists and women will be held on the following day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the main State foundation day programme on November 9, he added.

Dhami stressed that the silver jubilee programmes is more of a public celebration than a governmental programme. “While celebrating our achievements of the past 25 years, we must also focus on the State’s future for the next 25 years and prepare a transparent roadmap for this purpose,” he said.
