CM visits disaster affected Rudraprayag district on Igas

In a show of empathy, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the disaster affected Bhaunr village in the Basukedar Tehsil of Rudraprayag district on the occasion of Igas festival on Saturday.
In the visit, the CM interacted with the families affected by the recent disaster and conducted a review of the relief and reconstruction works. Dhami had visited the disaster-affected Manjhada village in Dehradun on Deepawali last month.
In Bhaunr, the CM expressed his condolences to the families who suffered loss of life and property during the disaster and handed over cheques of Rs five lakh each as financial assistance to the families of deceased forest worker Kuldeep Singh Negi and Satte Singh. He said the State government is fully committed to the rehabilitation and relief efforts of the affected families.
After hearing the grievances of the affected families, the CM directed officials to provide timely relief assistance to all affected families and to expedite reconstruction work on a priority basis. He said that all the damaged structures related to roads, drinking water, electricity, housing and communication systems in the disaster affected area have been quickly rebuilt so that people can get back to normal life as soon as possible.
Dhami also had lunch with the disaster-affected families of the village. He said that since Uttarakhand is a disaster-prone state, the government has taken several steps to strengthen the disaster management system. He urged officials to ensure transparency, promptness and sensitivity in relief operations. The CM said that in order to quickly respond to the emergencies, a helipad will be constructed in the area. He also announced that an Anganwadi centre in Bhaunr village will be opened. He said that a motor road to the village will be constructed at a cost of Rs one crore.
The CM directed the administration to prepare a plan to relocate those who lost their homes in Chenagad during the disaster and also promised compensation to those whose vehicles were damaged during the disaster. He said that the State government has made special provisions under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the rehabilitation of disaster-affected families.
MLA Bharat Chaudhary, district magistrate Prateek Jain, chief development officer Rajendra Singh Rawat and others accompanied the CM.
