Shaheed Samman Yatra II rescheduled to Sept 25

The Soldier Welfare department has rescheduled the Shaheed Samman Yatra -II in the State due to the weather conditions in the State. Originally slated to commence on September 22, the Yatra will now start on September 25 and culminate on October 4. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will flag off the Yatra from Dehradun.
This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Soldier Welfare minister Ganesh Joshi to review the preparations for the Yatra on Monday. Joshi said that the soil from the courtyards of 1,734 martyrs’ homes in the State was brought to the Sainya Dham in Dehradun in the first phase of the Shaheed Samman Yatra. He said that in the process houses of 71 martyrs got left out so the second phase of the Yatra is now being organised to bring the soil from their houses. Joshi said that the departmental officers will visit the houses of the martyrs during the Yatra and collect the soil from their courtyards in a Kalash. He said that the soil collected from the houses of the martyrs will be added in the construction of the Sainya Dham in Dehradun.
Prior to the meeting the officers handed over the Skoch Award -2025, which the department received for success of its pre recruitment training programme to the minister. Congratulating the department for the achievement, the minister said that the State government is always committed to the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families.
