49 new swine flu cases in Dehradun District, total reaches 181

The number of people affected by swine flu (Influenza H1N1) in Dehradun district mounted to 181 with the district health department reporting 49 new cases of the highly contagious viral disease on Wednesday. With this, the situation has become challenging as well as concerning.
Dehradun chief medical officer Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma said that of the total 181 cases, 122 are from Dehradun district and 59 are from other States and districts.
Of the 49 cases reported on Wednesday, 35 are from Dehradun and 14 are from other districts and States, he said.
Sharma further said that after the death audit, two deaths have been reported from the disease in the district till date.
At present, 61 cases are active. Of them, 42 patients are admitted to Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, seven at AIIMS Rishikesh, five at Himalayan Hospital, three at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital, one each at Kailash Hospital, Graphic Era Hospital, Shri Ram Medical Centre and Community Health Centre, Doiwala. Of the total 181 cases, 95 are male and 86 are female, CMO said.
He appealed to the public to take precautions including wearing masks in crowded places and isolating themselves if they develop flu-like symptoms.
