The Dehradun mayor Saurabh Thapliyal along with municipal commissioner Namami Bansal inaugurated the Integrated Control and Command Centre (ICCC) in the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) premises on Friday. The centre aims to streamline various aspects of urban sanitation through technology integration, mainly solid waste management.
The corporation will oversee door-to-door waste collection, GPS tracking of garbage vehicles, route monitoring, attendance of sanitation workers, and real-time monitoring of collection and processing data via ICCC.
Bansal informed that the ICCC will help monitor user charge collection across wards and ensure accurate reporting. It will also track daily activities related to information, education and communication campaigns, including door-to-door awareness drives and source segregation efforts.
The dashboard records data on the distribution and use of green and blue dustbins and tracks ward-level progress in waste segregation. She informed that the complaint redressal mechanism will also operate through the ICCC. Public complaints received via mobile applications or helpline numbers will be routed through the system and assigned to concerned officers for prompt action. The ICCC will track the movement of garbage collection vehicles using GPS to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
According to the commissioner, all collected data will be analysed through the ICCC dashboard to assist the corporation in operational decision-making. The system will eventually integrate other smart city services such as traffic monitoring, water supply tracking, and streetlight control, she added.
