The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) will start the registration process for landowners affected by the Adhat Bazaar redevelopment project from November 3. The decision was announced during a meeting held at the MDDA headquarters on Tuesday, chaired by MDDA secretary Mohan Singh Barnia with the officials concerned. Revenue officer Nazir Ahmad updated the secretary on the current status of the construction work. He stated that most tasks at the authority level have been completed while the remaining work will be finished within the scheduled time frame. Barnia said that the project aims to provide a new structure to the city’s old commercial area and that all work will proceed transparently and on schedule. He  also clarified in the meeting that landowners whose ownership is legally verified and whose documents are not involved in any judicial process will be included in the land allotment and payment process. Barnia instructed officials to begin the registration process on November 3 to ensure the next phase of the project proceeds smoothly. He informed that each landowner will submit an affidavit before registration, committing to demolish affected structures within 15 days. If this is not done within the timeframe, MDDA, Public Works Department and Dehradun district administration will carry out demolition jointly and no objections from landowners will be accepted. The MDDA vice chairman Banshidhar Tiwari said that the project represents a significant step in Dehradun’s urban development. He said that the authority aims to complete all processes fairly and efficiently and intends for the project to serve as a model for urban redevelopment in the State. The redevelopment project will proceed under the principles of transparency, public facilitation and scheduled execution, aiming to revive the historic area while maintaining its existing commercial identity, he added.
