The Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan directed officials of different departments to complete all public-related work on time and improve the quality of services. He said this while reviewing departmental works in the collectorate on Monday.
The DM discussed the problem of potholes on roads. He ordered the departments concerned to repair damaged roads at the earliest. He also directed officials to identify places where construction and demolition waste has been dumped on roads and remove it immediately.
Chauhan told officials to speed up the auction process of unused and damaged government vehicles. He also directed departments to keep office premises clean and free from dengue. Officials were asked to prevent waterlogging and clean water tanks regularly.
The DM stressed the need to use the e-Office system in government departments. He asked officials to use digital systems as much as possible for official work. He also reviewed complaints received through the chief minister’s helpline. He directed officials to clear pending complaints quickly and avoid unnecessary delays.
The meeting also focused on new initiatives in health and education. Officials discussed an online pledge system for newly married couples to create awareness about the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act. A mobile application for pregnant women and a digital token system to reduce waiting time at hospitals were also discussed.
The DM also discussed better management of stray animals through RFID chips. He directed officials to work on women’s safety measures, including separate toilets for women at public places. Officials were also asked to identify dark spots in the city and take steps to improve safety in these areas.

DM hears 164 complaints at Samadhan Diwas, orders quick action

Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan on Monday heard 164 complaints from people during the Samadhan Diwas at the collectorate. He directed officials to take quick and timely action on all complaints. The DM said that negligence or delay in solving public problems would not be tolerated.
The DM took serious note of safety concerns near Central Park Residency on Dhoran Road. He ordered action against the builder for not constructing a safety retaining wall. The Irrigation department was asked to prepare a proposal for protective work at the site. Officials were also directed to investigate illegal encroachment on government and river-category land in Siddhowala and Badamwala. The regional transport officer was asked to take action against overloaded vehicles in Vikasnagar. A woman from Rishikesh told the DM that her son was addicted to online gaming. She said the addiction had badly affected the family’s financial condition and sought financial assistance. Other women also requested help for medical treatment and their children’s education.
An elderly man, Rajpal Singh, complained that his son was allegedly harassing and assaulting him over a property dispute. The DM directed the SDM to take action under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act. He also ordered quick action on a complaint by an elderly widow from Mannuganj.
The DM also directed officials to speed up work on a CC road in Chakrata and land allotment related to the Rishikesh Bypass Road.
