A young cricketer from Gadoliya Tok (Rangli), a village in Tehri Garhwal, Mayank Rawat, has been picked up by the Mumbai Indians (MI) for its IPL team. In the IPL 2026 mini-auction held on December 16, 2025, the MI acquired this uncapped all-rounder from Delhi for his base price of Rs 30 lakh. This marks his first IPL contract and he has joined MI’s 25-member squad.
Mayank’s father, Ram Singh Rawat and his entire family remained busy receiving congratulatory messages from the friends and the sports enthusiasts on Wednesday.
Mayank began his cricketing career in Delhi and has been a part of the Delhi Ranji Trophy team, playing one match in the 2024-25 season. His real breakthrough came in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024, where he excelled while playing for the East Delhi Riders.
In the DPL 2024 Rawat scored 289 runs in seven innings with an impressive average of 72.25 and strike rate of 90 with three fifty plus scores. He also exceled in bowling by taking 11 wickets in the tournament. He scored unbeaten 78 off 39 balls (7 fours, 6 sixes) against the South Delhi Superstars, where he smashed five consecutive sixes on Ayush Badoni in the final over to lead his team to victory. This explosive performance probably caught the attention of MI and they picked up in the auction on Tuesday.
