50% discount on GMVN hotels for tourists during Winter Char Dham Yatra

Pilgrims visiting worship sites in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts will receive a 50 per cent discount on the current accommodation rates at Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) hotels as part of the State government’s plan to promote the Winter Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand. The officials informed that under the Winter Char Dham Yatra, worship of Yamunotri is conducted at Kharsali village in Uttarkashi, Gangotri rituals are performed at Mukhwa village on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, Lord Kedarnath’s winter prayers are held at Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath and Lord Badrinath’s rituals are conducted at Pandukeshwar near Jyotirmath, where the Narsingh temple is also the seat of Adi Guru Shankaracharya’s Gaddi. The officials stated that the GMVN provides lodging and food facilities for pilgrims and tourists during their travel and stay in Uttarakhand. In line with the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s directive to promote winter tourism through the Winter Char Dham Yatra, the corporation will implement the accommodation discount for visitors at its hotels located in the three districts, they added.
