The food safety and drug administration (FDA) in Dehradun has served a notice to Doon Darbar restaurant located near Mussoorie Diversion road for violation of food safety laws. The senior food safety officer of the administration, Yogendra Pandey informed that he along with his team arrived for a surprise inspection in Doon Darbar where they found that the food was being cooked in unhygienic surroundings. He said that two crates of rotten tomatoes were also found in the restaurant’s kitchen besides the waste of vegetables and some meat supplies. “We have destroyed all the spoiled food supplies and collected samples of cheese and some other food supplies which will be sent for lab testing in Rudrapur,” stated the officer. He said that the workers of the restaurant have claimed that the rotten tomatoes and other spoiled supplies were kept to throw them later. Since the supplies were kept in the kitchen despite their decaying state, Pandey said that it was a violation of food safety law. He said that the FDA has served a notice to the restaurant and has asked for clarification on the matter. Legal action will be taken against the restaurant management if the administration receives an unsatisfactory response or no response within one week, added Pandey.
