The Bharatiya Janata Party has rejected the allegations levelled in an audio clip being spread on social media, in which its former MLA is purportedly naming a senior party leader as the ‘VIP’ linked to the Ankita Bhandari death case.

The audio clip shared on social media has former BJP MLA from Jwalapur, Suresh Rathore purportedly naming a senior leader of the BJP as the ‘VIP’ linked to the Ankita Bhandari case. It is further stated in the audio clip that the resort where the victim worked had been bulldozed to destroy evidence. Reacting to this, the BJP has rejected the allegations and urged the authorities to take action. The party’s State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan suggested that this could also be a conspiracy of the opposition to dent the image of the BJP and its leaders. He said, “The former MLA Suresh Rathore and the lady Urmila who has reportedly made the audio recording, have nothing to do with the BJP. He had been expelled earlier from the party for questionable behaviour. This is the reason why he is frustrated and making baseless allegations against our leaders,” Chauhan said.

On being asked whether the party will pursue any legal action in the case, he said that the party requests the authorities to take necessary action in this matter.

It will be recalled that Rathore had been expelled by the BJP for a period of six years earlier this year. The action was taken after the lady Urmila claimed that he had married her without divorcing his first wife. The former MLA on the other hand had stated recently that he had filed a defamation case against her and his family members would do the same.
