PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Ramnagar

With a couple of days left for the second phase of voting in Uttarakhand’s rural polls,  the polling teams, which will conduct polling  in the disaster-affected village of Chukum under Ramnagar development block, has been sent two days in advance, given the rain-related uncertainties.

The sub-divisional magistrate, Pramod Kumar said that being situated on both banks of Kosi river, Chukum is a difficult village to reach. “Reaching the village requires crossing the river which becomes particularly challenging during the monsoon season due to the elevated water levels,” he said, adding that the polling teams were also being transported to the booths on raft.
