Citizens and members of various Hindu nationalist organisations rallied against an alleged love Jihad case here on a call given by former BJP city chief Madan Joshi. The protesters demanded strict legal action against the accused, including the demolition of his house.
According to reports, about a week ago, a minor Hindu girl was allegedly lured away by a young woman from a particular community, who disguised her in a burqa and took her to the house of a teenage boy belonging to the same community. CCTV footage later exposed the incident, revealing that the boy allegedly sexually assaulted the minor and attempted to forcefully convert her.
The incident sparked outrage among locals and Hindu groups, who strongly protested the matter. Police subsequently registered a case under relevant sections and produced the accused minor before the Juvenile Justice Board, which sent him to a juvenile correction home.
However, Hindu organisations have alleged that the accused’s parents and the young woman seen in the CCTV footage taking the girl away were equally complicit and demanded legal action against them.
The massive rally began from Lakhanpur Chungi and culminated at Bhawaniganj Ramlila Ground, where protesters submitted a memorandum addressed to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami through the sub divisional magistrate, Pramod Kumar. The memorandum demanded strict action against all those involved in the incident and also called for bulldozer action on the accused’s house.
Addressing the gathering, Joshi said cases of love Jihad were rising alarmingly in the town and had become a matter of grave concern for society. The rally witnessed the participation of activists from Karni Sena, Bharatiya Bajrang Dal, Abhibhavak Sangh, BJP and several other organisations.
