The Uttarakhand Berozgar Sangh (UBS) thanked chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for the cancellation of the recently held graduate-level Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) examination which had elicited considerable controversy due to an alleged leak. A delegation of the UBS and technical diploma qualified students met the CM at his residence here on Sunday to convey their views. They acknowledged that the State government had paid heed to the sentiments of the youths and cancelled the examination taking cognisance of allegations of serious irregularities.

Office bearers of UBS said that the steps taken by the government to ensure transparency and fairness in the examination encourage confidence and hope in the students. They opined that the manner in which the State government acted with promptness and sensitivity in this case is a historic decision.

Interacting with the delegation, the CM assured them that the State government is fully committed to ensuring recruitments to government jobs based on merit and with transparency. He said that the message of the government is clear- there is zero tolerance for corruption, copying or unfair means in any competitive examination in Uttarakhand. Dhami said, “We will not tolerate any type of injustice with the talent of and hard work put in by the youths. The State government has taken a strong step towards ensuring transparency in the examination process by implementing the anti-copying law. With the implementation of this law, strictest legal action will be taken against any person or organisation found guilty of trying to influence the examination process,” the CM said.

Dhami further told the delegation members that the State government is making consistent efforts to ensure that the youths of Uttarakhand have access to fair opportunities and build an environment of trust and full transparency when it comes to all competitive examinations in the State. The hard dowk, dedication and honesty of the State’s youths is the real capital of Uttarakhand and the government is always eager to protect their rights, he said.

The UBS representatives requested the CM to make provisions of the anti-copying law stronger for future competitive exams and to ensure that the recruitment process is conducted in a time-bound manner. Appreciating the suggestions, Dhami said that transparent recruitments are a mark of good governance and that the government is consistently working in this direction. The UBS head Ram Kandwal and others were present during the interaction
