Heralding a new era in Bihar’s political history, Samrat Chaudhary has been sworn in as the first BJP chief minister. Also, he has become the 24th CM of the state. He was sworn in at Lok Bhavan along with
Vijendra Yadav and Vijay Kumar Chaudhary from the JD (U) who assumed charge as two deputy chief Ministers. Several senior NDA leaders were present during this significant political transition, offering their support and best wishes to the new government. Among them were the Union Ministers J P Nadda and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Until now, BJP just shared power in Bihar as a coalition partner, but this is the first time a saffron leader has become the CM. Earlier on Tuesday, Samrat Choudhary had been elected the leader of the BJP legislature party.
Observers say that Choudhary has to present good governance, on one hand, and keep the NDA alliance united, on the other, aside from taking on the challenges from the Opposition.
