Singer apologises after swearing at college event, police issue notice

The police have sent a notice to Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma after he used abusive language from the stage at a students union event at Dayanand Anglo-Vedic Post Graduate College here on Saturday, superintendent of police (City) Pramod Kumar said. Meanwhile, the performer apologised on social media.

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also attended the event, but the situation changed after he left. It is said that Sharma started using offensive words during his performance, which made students, staff, and police officials present at the venue uncomfortable. After the video went viral eliciting public outrage, Sharma released a video on social media and apologised. He said that a suspicious person had been troubling him for some time, and the stress affected his behavior on stage. He further explained that he and his team were staying in a hotel in Dehradun for the event, where a suspicious youth had been roaming around since the previous night. Initially, they ignored it, but later he received a call from his cousin in the United States, informing him that someone had made an abusive call. This caused stress for him and his team throughout the night.

On the matter, the SP (City) said that the police have taken note of the incident where abusive language was used during the event. Dalanwala police station is conducting a detailed investigation. A notice has been sent to the singer and further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
