Six new dengue cases reported in Dehradun

Six new cases of dengue were reported in Dehradun District on Monday. The Dehradun Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma, stated that among the six new cases, three were reported at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC), one at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, one at SPS Hospital and one at Himalayan Hospital. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed dengue cases in the district to 424, with 211 cases originating from Dehradun and 213 cases from other districts and States.

The CMO said that currently, there are 22 dengue patients receiving treatment, nine at Himalayan Hospital, seven at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, three at Graphic Era Hospital and three at GDMC Hospital. On Monday, health officials collected 530 dengue samples, increasing the cumulative number of samples tested to 22,956.

Additionally, on Monday, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and volunteers from the Health department conducted 11,488 household surveys to check for mosquito larvae. During these surveys, larvae were found in 165 homes. To date, the Health department has completed a total of 16,66,331 household surveys, with 15,764 yielding positive results. On Monday, ASHA workers and volunteers inspected 63,315 containers, discovering that 195 contained larvae. Overall, they have examined a total of 11,02,1177 containers, with 20466 testing positive for larvae.

Notably, earlier, Sharma urged individuals to ensure there is no water accumulation in their surroundings and residences. He advised regularly checking refrigerator trays and other areas where water might collect and taking immediate action to eliminate any standing water or waterlogging to prevent dengue.
