Social Welfare department director Sanjay Kumar directed officials to take necessary steps to increase public awareness about drug addiction, enhance rehabilitation services and improve the quality of facilities at the State Drug De-addiction Centre in Raiwala. Inspecting the centre on Tuesday, Kumar examined various aspects including treatment, counselling, rehabilitation, medical facilities, cleanliness, food arrangements and record-keeping. He interacted with beneficiaries at the centre, asking about their health, treatment and rehabilitation experiences.
Kumar emphasised that drug addiction is not just an individual issue but also affects families and society as a whole. He said that de-addiction centres must serve as effective counselling and rehabilitation centres, rather than merely places for treatment. The officials informed the director about the centre’s functioning, achievements and ongoing activities.
