Suggestions of general public & athletes to be sought for new State sports policy

The people of Uttarakhand will now have a direct say in shaping the State’s new sports policy. Chairing a departmental meeting on Tuesday, Sports minister Rekha Arya has instructed officials to invite suggestions from the general public, athletes and sports enthusiasts while drafting the new policy. Arya said that the new sports policy aims to promote Uttarakhand’s traditional sports while also incorporating elements from the Central sports policy. “The department will soon invite public suggestions on the new sports policy and appropriate recommendations will be integrated into it. Plans are also in place to felicitate those who provide valuable input,” she added.
The minister said that the government has been requested to expedite preparations for the Sports University. Additionally, instructions were given to fast-track the process of offering out-of-turn employment to medal-winning athletes. Arya also indicated that preparations are underway to accommodate some of these athletes in sports academies.
