Specially-abled reach CM residence seeking action

Specially-abled individuals from across the State protested outside the chief minister’s residence on Monday, seeking action on their long-standing demands. The protesters managed to surprise the police by reaching close to the CM’s residence to demonstrate a day after their protest seeking action on their demands.
International para-badminton player from Udham Singh Nagar district, Prema Vishwas stated that while the State government provides job opportunities to able-bodied medal winners, they have ignored specially-abled medal winners like her and have not encouraged the provision of employment opportunities for them. She emphasised that specially-abled individuals who have won national medals deserve respect and urged the State government to provide them with job opportunities.
Vishwas further informed that they have written many letters to the CM listing their demands but these have remained unaddressed. Consequently, they decided to reach the CM’s residence and staged a demonstration.Specially-abled individual from Haridwar, Parvesh raised his concerns and asked that the CM ensure that their pension amounts are increased and other demands are addressed.
Similarly, specially-abled national badminton player Ashok Kumar from Pithoragarh stated that while the State government provides jobs to able-bodied national medalists from Uttarakhand, the same consideration should be extended to specially-abled athletes. The protesters said that the current monthly pension of Rs 1,500 is insufficient to support their households and demanded that it be increased to Rs 5,000.
