The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organised the BIS–StartUps Meet at IIT Roorkee on Friday to strengthen collaboration between the startup ecosystem and BIS and to promote innovation and standardisation.

The director and head of BIS in Dehradun Saurabh Tiwari discussed the industrial scenario in Uttarakhand, related government policies and the benefits of standards for startup growth. Technical sessions covered BIS structure, services, digital platforms and collaboration opportunities for startups.

An interactive session allowed participants to share experiences and discuss potential partnerships with BIS. In the second session, Ashutosh Sharma, former Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, outlined available funding schemes to support technology and research for startups.

More than 100 participants from IIT Roorkee and several other organisations like UPES attended the meet, which aimed to build a stronger link between innovation and standardisation.
