Tehri Acro Festival off to a flying start

Finance and Urban Development minister Prem Chand Agarwal inaugurated the
Tehri Acro Festival at the Tehri lake on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the entire area of Tehri lake has immense potential for water sports and adventure sports. Events like this festival will help give an identity to the region on the world map and will also provide employment opportunities. The minister further said that about 43 trainees have been given training in paragliding in different categories from P-1 to P-4. Agarwal also talked to the paragliders and invited them to come to Uttarakhand again.
On this occasion, Forest minister Subodh Uniyal said that the Tehri lake has many possibilities for adventure sports and has the potential to boost the economy of Tehri district. This is a good start for the success of paragliding, continuity of tourism and maintaining its identity in the country and abroad. The youth here will benefit from this and the economy will increase due to an increase in all types of tourism, Uniyal said.
The Tehri Acro Festival organised in Koti Colony under the aegis of Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board will continue till November 28. A total of 130 pilots from 28 countries including India are participating in the festival. The participants include 50 foreigners and 80 pilots from different States of India. Paragliders are taking off from take off point Pratapnagar and landing in Koti Colony as part of the activities being held in the festival.
