After a brief respite from the rising heat, the mountainous areas of the State are set to witness a rise in temperatures in the coming days. The State Meteorological Centre has forecast very light to light rain /thunderstorm/snowfall (at 3,300 metres altitude and above) likely to occur at isolated places in the mountain districts with dry weather likely to prevail in plain districts on Tuesday.
During the past 24 hours, maximum temperatures remained normal to above normal in plains and markedly below normal to above normal in mountainous regions of Uttarakhand. No significant change in the maximum temperature is likely to occur in the plains during the next two-three days though the maximum temperature is likely to rise by two to three degrees Celsius in the mountainous regions of the State during the next couple of days.
The meteorological centre has forecast that the provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky on Tuesday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various areas on Monday were 28.5 degrees Celsius and 11.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 30.6 degrees Celsius and 13.6 degrees in Pantnagar, 14.7 degrees Celsius and 1.3 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 15.6 degrees Celsius and 2.2 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. While Dehradun witnessed trace rainfall, Pantnagar witnessed seven millimetres of rain and there was six millimetres rain in Mukteshwar, 19.5 millimetres in Harshil, eight millimetres in Badrinath and a millimetre in Devidhura.
