Three students receive scholarships under Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024

The Uttarakhand Film Development Council (UFDC) has awarded scholarships to three students from Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Nainital who have completed their courses at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune.
According to officials, the Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024 includes provisions to provide scholarships for permanent residents of Uttarakhand who enroll in FTII Pune, the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in Kolkata, or other esteemed institutions, based on merit. These scholarships are awarded upon course completion and receipt of a certificate. Under this policy, 75 per cent scholarships are available for Scheduled Tribe (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC) and Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates, while 50 per cent scholarships are available for general category candidates based on the course expenses.
The UFDC chief executive officer Banshidhar Tiwari said that Praveen Semwal, a resident of Ukhimath in Rudraprayag received a scholarship of Rs 65,682 for a one-year postgraduate certificate course. Similarly, Kavita, from Harni village in Chamoli received Rs 1,27,619 for a two-year postgraduate diploma course and Devesh Bhatt, a resident of Tallital in Nainital received Rs 1,38,990 for a three-year postgraduate diploma course. All three students completed their studies at FTII Pune, he said.
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated, “The youth of Uttarakhand are rich in creative talent. The State government is working to provide them with better opportunities to hone their skills and gain national recognition. The Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024 is an important initiative in this direction. By offering scholarships to the youth pursuing film education, the government aims to give new wings to their dreams,” he said.
