Transport Dept seeks FIR against two for fraud promising RTO job & auctioned vehicles

The Transport department has written to the Dalanwala police station to file a First Information Report (FIR) against a fraudulent scheme using fake Regional Transport Office receipts, forged seals and intimidation tactics.

According to department officials, Dehradun residents Rishi and Rakesh Rathore have submitted written complaints against Ashish Sharma and Vipin Sharma for fraud, forgery and offering government jobs in the office. Rishi filed his complaint on July 18, alleging that Ashish Sharma claimed to work in the RTO and promised to procure vehicles for him at auction.

Rishi paid Ashish Sharma Rs 1,54,000 in cash and was given a fake RTO receipt with three checks as assurance. However, the accused evaded the issue when confronted and neither provided the vehicles nor returned the money, officials said.

Rathore lodged his complaint at the RTO alleging that Ashish Sharma, with the help of Vipin Sharma promised to secure a government job for Rathore’s son at the RTO and took Rs 1,00,000 in cash from the complainant.

Ashish Sharma informed Rathore that vehicles seized by the RTO were set to be auctioned. He sent photos and vehicle numbers via WhatsApp, asking him to choose a vehicle and pay a booking advance. He also fabricated a scheme for JCBs, claiming that only one was left and requiring an advance payment. Through these false promises of jobs and vehicles, Ashish Sharma and Vipin Sharma took a total of Rs 3,80,000 in installments. After more than a year, Rathore has neither found a job for his son nor received a vehicle, the officials informed.Officials noted that forged seals in the names of the regional transport officer (Administration), Dehradun division and the assistant regional transport officer (Administration), Dehradun, were also used by the accused. Based on the documents submitted with the complaints and the evident signs of serious crimes such as fraud, forgery and impersonation, a letter has been sent to the head of the Dalanwala police station to register a FIR and initiate the necessary legal action.
