The Dehradun district administration has announced financial support for children suffering from rare diseases. District magistrate Ashish Chauhan said that no child should miss treatment because of a lack of money. If the financial help provided under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) is not enough, the remaining cost will be covered through the Rifle Club Fund.
The decision was taken during a review meeting on Saturday chaired by the DM. The chief medical officer Manoj Sharma informed the meeting that 16 children in Dehradun have been identified under the RBSK programme. These children are suffering from different rare diseases and need treatment at specialised hospitals in different parts of the country. Since the treatment is expensive and often continues for a long time, additional financial support is required.
Chauhan directed officials to ensure that there is no delay in completing documents, approvals, referrals or financial assistance. He asked all departments to work together so that every eligible child receives treatment on time without any administrative or financial problems.
DM Chauhan said that saving the lives of children is the administration’s highest priority. He instructed the Health Department and other concerned officials to regularly monitor every case, stay in touch with the families and ensure that all government approvals are completed without delay. The administration said it is committed to ensuring that every child with a rare disease gets timely and proper medical treatment.
