Women’s kayaking training starts in Tehri lake

The Tehri district magistrate Nitika Khandelwal inaugurated the 14-day women basic white water kayaking course at Tehri Lake in Koti Colony. She said that this was not just an adventure sport but a life-saving skill.
The Adventure Sports officer, Seema Nautiyal said that this 14-day training was being organised by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board as per the instructions of the Tourism secretary, Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, adding that after this training, the students would also be given advanced training in Ganga so as to ensure that they are employed later as river guides and kayaking guides.
The district Tourism officer, Sobat Singh Rana informed that 20 girls from Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag and Udham Singh Nagar districts aside from Dhanaulty and Kirti Nagar areas of Tehri district are participating in the training.
Further, these girls will be prepared for national and international competitions. A team of five trainers are guiding the training.
