Dehradun police arrested three foreign women—one from Kyrgyzstan and two from Uzbekistan—on Sunday. They were living illegally in the city using fake Indian documents. The women had been staying in different parts of Dehradun for the past six to seven months before being arrested, police said. One of the accused had earlier been arrested by Bihar Police in a similar case and was sent to jail.

According to officials, during a verification drive under Operation Crackdown in the Raipur area, police found the three women staying in an apartment at Sai Complex in suspicious conditions. When asked to show valid documents, they failed to provide any proof of legal stay in India.

According to the police, one of the accused, Erika from Kyrgyzstan, had come to India in 2023 on a one-year visa but continued to stay even after it expired. The other two women, Karina and Nigora from Uzbekistan, had entered India illegally through the Nepal border. During questioning, it was revealed that all three met in Delhi and arranged fake Indian documents through their contacts, officials said. The police recovered several items from them, including passports, fake Aadhaar and PAN cards, bank passbooks, mobile phones and foreign currency. One of the accused had also been arrested earlier by Bihar Police in a similar case but again started living illegally in India after getting bail.

The police said that a case has been registered against all three women under relevant sections of law, including the Immigration and Foreigners Act. Police added that they have also received information about the people who helped in preparing fake documents and action will be taken against them.
