Jammers were reportedly working in the examination room number 9 during the graduate- level recruitment examination under Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) on Sunday due to which, Khalid Malik had to go to the toilet to leak the paper.
This was claimed by the director of Adarsh Bal Sadan Inter College in Haridwar, Dharmendra Singh Chauhan, who runs the institute where the incident took place. Chauhan told The Pioneer that the jammers were installed by the commission and the technicians had informed that one jammer could cover two rooms, so the same jammer was placed for room numbers 8 and 9. He added that frisking was the responsibility of the police and the examination material was brought by sector magistrate Kailash Nath Tiwari.
Chauhan claimed that he was not aware about the paper leak till the next day. He also informed that the STF brought Khalid to the college on Wednesday to recreate the sequence of events. According to him, Khalid told the STF that he first jumped the wall from the back side of the school and hid his phone, then entered through the main gate after police checking to reach the examination hall.
The UKSSSC graduate-level recruitment exam held on September 21 saw its three-page question paper go viral on social media. Police arrested Khalid Malik, a resident of Sultanpur in Laksar, Haridwar, on Tuesday for leaking the paper in an organised way. His sister Sabia was detained earlier the same day, while another sister, Hina, remains under police custody for her suspected role.
The police also found that Khalid’s family was booked in a case of electricity theft. The respective department filed an FIR against his father Shahzad after an inspection.
