UPES gives Rs 3 Cr for young founders spanning India’s innovation landscape

The budding entrepreneurs from institutions such as National University of Singapore, Delhi Technological University, IIT Ropar, BITS Pilani, SRM University, UIET Panjab University, Nagpur University, IBS Mumbai and UPES participated in the funding event christened as ‘The Pitch’ held at UPES campus in Dehradun. UPES officials said that it is emerging fast as India’s leading startup university. It has recently given an impetus to young founders through Rs three crore funding pool.
The initiative saw early-stage startups competing for the prize pool, demonstrating the university’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurial talent with real resources and mentorship, the university officials said, adding that UPES is not only nurturing innovation by its own students and faculty, but is also supporting a new generation of job creators beyond the campus by empowering young founders to build sustainable ventures.
A total of 12 startups presented their business ideas to a distinguished panel, comprising university leadership, investors and ecosystem enablers. The event was evaluated by a jury featuring the vice- chancellor of UPES, Ram Sharma; chief financial officer, UPES, Navneet Mehta; dean, School of Law, UPES, Abhishek Sinha and founder, Tremis Capital, Vivek Jhorar.
Addressing the event, the dean, School of Business, UPES, Rahul Nainwal said that it reflects UPES’s deep commitment to building a thriving startup ecosystem.
