MCD conducts surprise inspection to check sanitation, acts against absent staff

Acting on the directions of the Dehradun municipal commissioner Namami Bansal, chief municipal health officer Dr Avinash Khanna carried out surprise inspections of the city’s sanitation system on December 15 and 16. During the inspection on December 15, two sanitation workers in ward number 21, Rajpal and Mukesh were found absent from duty. On December 16, three sanitation workers in ward number 14, Rachna and Krishna Kumar along with two workers in ward number 93, Rohit and Mohan were found absent from their respective beats despite marking attendance.

During the inspection in ward number 13 on DL Road, one sanitation worker was found burning garbage, in violation of solid waste management rules. Immediate challan action was taken against the worker. Officials ordered the deduction of one day’s salary of all workers found absent. Supervisors were issued strict warnings, stating that if any employee is found absent after marking attendance in the future, stringent action will be taken against both the worker and the supervisor as per the rules.

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) reiterated that negligence in maintaining the city’s sanitation system will not be tolerated. Under the guidance of the municipal commissioner Namami Bansal, such surprise inspections will continue in the future to strengthen discipline and efficiency in sanitation services. The MCD has also appealed to citizens to cooperate with the administration and actively support efforts to keep the city clean and healthy.
