Wife of Doon businessman dies as mob sets hotel in Kathmandu ablaze

With violence and arson having engulfed Nepal, the wife of a transport businessman based in Dehradun died after the hotel in Kathmandu the couple was staying in had been set ablaze by a mob. As per information received, businessman Rambir Singh Gola had gone to Nepal on September 6 with his wife, 45-year-old Rajesh Gola. Rajesh Gola fell from the fourth floor of the hotel during a stampede and died on the spot while her husband somehow managed to escape.
After this incident, Rambir kept wandering for help and also informed his acquaintances in Dehradun over phone. The family also sought help from the Indian Embassy in Nepal.
Sources close to the family said that Rambir might return to Dehradun with the body of his wife on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, with curfew remaining clamped on the neighbouring country, many States have formed special cells to help their people stranded in Nepal. Uttarakhand Chief Minister CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has asked the officials concerned to step up vigilance in the areas bordering Nepal against the backdrop of continuing volatility there.
