Many stake claim for Congress ticket for upcoming assembly elections

The screening committee headed by Avinash Pandey meets contenders in Doon
The success of the recent rally of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and the enthusiasm of the party workers for the upcoming assembly elections was clearly visible in headquarters of the state Congress on Monday as a bevy of ticket aspirants presented their cases before the screening committee. On the day the committee held interaction with aspirants of assembly constituencies located in the Tehri parliamentary seat. Talking to the media persons, the chairman of the screening committee Avinash Pandey said that the committee would complete its work by the first week of January. He said that the committee has so far met the aspirants of 50 assembly segments. Pandey said that the screening committee would submit its report to the central election committee which would take a final call on candidates. He said that the factors like dedication, loyalty towards the party, work on ground and image would be considered for the selection of the candidates.
Pandey said that the party would fight the elections under collective leadership.
The screening committee of Congress party for Uttarakhand is headed by All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Avinash Pandey.
Senior Congress leaders Ajoy Kumar and Virendra Singh are its members while the AICC in charge of Uttarakhand Devender Yadav, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Pritam Singh, former CM and head of campaign committee Harish Rawat, Uttarakhand Co in charge Dipika Pandey and co in-charge Rajesh Dharmani are its ex officio members.
