Congress high command meets Uttarakhand leaders, discusses poll strategy

The central leadership of Congress party held a meeting with senior leaders of Uttarakhand Congress in New Delhi on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by the Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and was attended by the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, among others.
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal, the leader of opposition in Vidhan Sabha Yashpal Arya, former chief minister Harish Rawat, former PCC president and Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Karan Mahara, former PCC president and chairman of the campaign committee of Uttarakhand Congress Pritam Singh, chairman of the election management committee Harak Singh Rawat and CWC member Gurdeep Sappal attended the meeting. The national general secretary of the Congress KC Venugopal and the in-charge of the Uttarakhand Congress Kumari Selja also attended the meeting.
It is learnt that Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Venugopal also held separate meetings with all the senior leaders of the State Congress. The issue of the new PCC was also discussed in the meeting. The new PCC president Godiyal is keen to reconstitute the PCC and as per the wishes of the central leadership wants to keep its size limited. It is worth mentioning here that the issue of the reconstitution of the PCC has been pending for the last three years. Discussions on the issues and the preparations of the party for next year’s Vidhan Sabha elections were also held in the meeting.
The LoP in Vidhan Sabha, Yashpal Arya told The Pioneer that the party high command discussed the road map of the party in the State and the preparations for the Vidhan Sabha elections scheduled in the State in the year 2027. He said that initially a three month roadmap will be prepared by the party.
