Man arrested with heroin worth Rs 34 lakh in Dehradun

In a joint operation conducted by Rajpur police and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) a man was arrested with 112 grammes of heroin worth about Rs 34 lakh in Dehradun. The accused has been identified as Rahul Chaudhary alias Jogi (35) and was arrested near Dhoran bridge in the Rajpur area on Monday. 

According to the police, the joint team received a tip-off from an informer during a checking drive. Acting on the information, the police arrested the accused near Dhoran bridge in the Rajpur area. On searching the man, police recovered 112 grammes of heroin from his possession. The heroin is estimated to be worth about Rs 34 lakh in the illegal market. The Swift car used in the crime was also seized by the police.

During interrogation, the accused told police that he is a resident of Nagina in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh and is also addicted to drugs. To meet his habit and earn money, he started selling drugs to other addicts. He used to buy heroin from drug traffickers in Saharanpur and Bijnor to sell it to drug users in Dehradun at higher rates. The action was taken as part of the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking being carried out on the directions of the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobal.
