Official shot on way to flood post in Haridwar

A Disaster Management personnel was shot by unidentified persons late on Saturrday night in Pathri area of Haridwar. He has been admitted in the Himalayan Hospital for treatment while the police are investigating the case.

According to information received, Shivam Kumar, posted in the disaster relief post in Bishanpur Kundi village was going to the post when he was attacked by some unidentified persons. He was going to the flood post at about 11 PM on Saturday when he was shot. He sustained the bullet wound above his waist. The police reached the scene of the crime on receiving information and took the injured man to the Himalayan Hospital for treatment.

District disaster management officer Meera Rawat said that Kumar had approached the jungles of Katarpur on his way to duty when the assailants waiting for him shot him and fled the scene. The injured Kumar was able to reach the flood post from where the police were informed about the incident. Till the time of filing this report, the police had not received any complaint. However, the incident is being investigated and the accused will be nabbed soon, according to the police.
