Six new dengue cases reported in Dehradun

Six new cases of dengue were reported in the Dehradun district on Saturday. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun, Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma, stated that among six who tested positive for dengue on Saturday, one patient was admitted to Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, while the other five were taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, with one seeking treatment at the outpatient department (OPD). The latest cases bring the cumulative number of confirmed dengue cases in the district to 181, with 90 cases originating from Dehradun and 91 from other districts or States.

Sharma said that there are currently 16 active dengue patients receiving treatment: nine are being treated at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, one at Himalayan Hospital, four at AIIMS Rishikesh, one at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital and one patient is being cared for at home. On Saturday, health officials collected a total of 170 dengue samples, which raises the cumulative number of tested samples to 10,494.

In addition, on Saturday, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Health department volunteers conducted 9,233 household surveys to check for mosquito larvae. During these surveys, they found larvae in 211 homes. To date, the health department has completed a total of 10,52,758 surveys, with 5,644 showing positive findings. ASHA workers and volunteers also examined 72,422 containers, discovering that 339 of them contained larvae as of Saturday. Overall, they have inspected 69,64,590 containers, with 7,512 testing positive for larvae.
