DM withholds salaries of officers for showing laxity to take measures against dengue

The Dehradun district magistrate Sonika has ordered withholding the salaries of the district vector-borne disease officer and the district coordinator, ASHA for allegedly showing laxity in taking necessary steps to prevent dengue across the district. The DM held a review meeting with officials concerned regarding the increasing cases of dengue in the district. Considering the hike in the dengue cases in the district, she directed the officials concerned to work seriously and take effective measures to prevent the spread of dengue. She has ordered the officials to work actively in a coordinated manner to destroy larvae and monitor the conditions of vulnerable areas which presently have the maximum number of active dengue cases. She also directed the chief development officer (CDO) Jharna Kamthan to ensure all officials concerned are taking necessary steps under the district’s anti-dengue campaign and submitting a daily report to the administration. She also directed the CDO to deploy district personnel in the District Disaster Control Room to get regular and updated daily reports of dengue cases.
She also directed the district vector-borne disease officer Subhash Joshi to coordinate with the block coordinators and send her the reports of action taken by the teams block-wise for dengue prevention. She also directed him to take the assistance of ASHA and Anganwadi workers in destroying larvae and monitoring the conditions in vulnerable areas. The DM directed the chief medical officer Dr Manoj Upreti to provide daily information on the dengue patients being identified in the district including the hospitalised patients and the details of how many beds are occupied across the hospitals. The DM has also ordered withholding the salaries of the vector-borne disease officer and the District Coordinator, ASHA for showing laxity and lack of coordination in work against Dengue and has sought clarification from both of them on the issue. The Dehradun district reported 54 new dengue patients on Sunday which has brought the number of cumulative patients to 637 in the district so far. The DM has asked the respective municipal bodies and officials to take all the possible measures against dengue while adding that no laxity will be tolerated by the administration on this matter.
