Congress to raise public voice, awareness through social media: Shrinate

Congress national spokesperson and its social media chief Supriya Shrinate said that the party will use social media effectively with facts and figures to raise the voice of the people and spread awareness on the situation in Uttarakhand. She said this after the party’s State social media chief Vikas Negi formally assumed charge at the party State office here on Sunday.

Shrinate said, “Social media has become a powerful medium to connect with the public. Working on the ground but not publicising it on social media will not get results while lack of ground work coupled with publicity on social media will result in the situation with the BJP faced in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh. All party workers should try to tell the stories of the people in their voice on social media. Visit ground zero and raise the problems being faced by the people through social media,” she said.

The Pradesh Congress Committee president Karan Mahara said that Negi is a dedicated and hardworking youth under whose leadership the party’s social media wing is working better consistently. “It is time to give a reply to the BJP in its own language. Debates based on facts and figures also make the people think seriously. Considering this, there should be truth and depth in whatever the Congress puts up on social media,” said the PCC chief. Former PCC chief Ganesh Godiyal made some suggestions to Negi and his team for strengthening the party’s presence on social media. Social media is a double-edged sword and the manner of its usage depends largely on its user. “Considering this, we will have to reply alertly and smartly regarding the situation around us,” he said.
