Continuing its action to prevent further spread of dengue, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) recovered a total penalty of Rs 20,000 on Sunday from Rajpur situated commercial establishments as part of its ongoing anti-dengue campaign. A team under the supervision of deputy municipal commissioner Rohitash Sharma inspected basements, roofs and empty spaces of commercial establishments like empty plots, malls and towers to ensure dengue causing larvae are not breeding there. The team found old unused items lying in an empty plot where stagnant water was found with dengue-causing aedes mosquito larvae. The officials called the owner of the plot on the spot and penalised him Rs 20,000. He was also asked to clean the space and to ensure water is not accumulated there again. Besides this, the sanitation section of MCD also continued its intensive fogging and spraying of larvicide under the campaign in several vulnerable areas of about 25 wards of the city.
