In latest news from Dehradun, the Dehradun city unit of the ruling BJP will observe December 25 as Good Governance Day, marking the birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister ‘Bharat Ratna’ Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The party’s councillors and the functionaries of the city unit will observe the day appropriately in their respective areas as per the directive issued during the meeting held in the party’s city office. Addressing the meeting, a senior leader Jyoti Prasad Gairola recalled the former PM’s deep attachment to Uttarakhand and his monunental role as the Prime Minister in the forrmation of Uttarakhand as a separate State carved out of Uttar Pradesh. Not just this, Vajpayee had given the newly formed State a special status in terms of development; he said and added that the people of the State hold the leader in grateful remembrance. Among those who attended the meeting included the Mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ and MLAs Khajan Das and Sabita Kapoor.
