The Uttarakhand Congress has demanded that the agriculture minister Ganesh Joshi should be immediately sacked from the Pushkar Singh Dhami cabinet and his assets should be investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that a Right to Information (RTI) query has revealed that Joshi possesses assets which are disproportionate to his known source of income. Taking a dig at the minister, Mahara said that it appears Joshi possesses a magical lamp by which he is conjuring up new properties. He said that recently the High Court (HC) had ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry in horticulture scam. The PCC president said that it appears that Ganesh Joshi is involved in every scam and he has amassed huge wealth. He demanded that the assets of the minister should be investigated from the ED. The Congress leader said that the State government is immersed neck deep in corruption.
He said that the public money is getting siphoned into the pockets of the scammers of BJP who are being protected by the Modi and Dhami governments.
Mahara said that though the BJP continues to chant the rhetoric of zero tolerance on corruption, the fact is that corruption prevails in every department of the government. The PCC president said that the BJP governments at the centre and State look the other way on the issue of corruption of the BJP ministers. He demanded that the CM Pushkar Singh Dhami should remove Joshi from his cabinet and an inquiry by ED should be ordered against him.
