Case registered against travel agencies after 55 pilgrims caught with fake registrations

Authorities on Wednesday registered complaints against three tour and travel companies after the police found fake registrations of 55 pilgrims and travelers during checking in Rishikesh. The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh sent teams to other states to act against the agencies. The police on Wednesday checked the registration of a group of 19 people for the Kedarnath temple who belong to Hyderabad, West Bengal, Delhi and Karnataka. They informed the police that they registered to visit the Kedarnath temple through a Ghazibad-based travel agency Trippy Baba they found online. They paid Rs 1.7 lakh online to the agency for the registration on May 23. They came to know about their registrations being fake after the checking in Rishikesh. A group of 30 people from Maharashtra including 16 men and 14 women were also found with fake registrations at the checking centre in Rishikesh. They informed the police that they paid Rs 1.65 lakh to a Haridwar-based travel agency Konark Travels for the registration of 30 people to visit two Dhams. Besides this, the police also found a group of six people with fake registrations. They claimed to have carried out their registrations through a travel agency in Noida. Singh said that the police registered a case against these travel agencies under relevant acts. The SSP has also formed teams and sent them to the respective cities to investigate these agencies and against them. Besides this, the police also made suitable arrangements for these 55 pilgrims to continue their pilgrimage in the State, he added.
