A visit to Dayara Bugyal– nestled in the heavenly Himalayas at an altitude of 3048 metres – may prove to be a unique experience. It lures nature-lovers from across the world for its celestial meadows endowed with superabundance of flora and fauna, accessible from a place called Bhatwari on the Uttarkashi- Gangotri road.
To reach Dayara Bugyal, travellers are to reach a small village Barsu (40 kms from Uttarkashi town) -the last one before the bugyal starts. Buses are available from Dehradun. On reaching this village, they are to cover a distance of about eight kms by trekking.
Dayara Bugyal offers a spectacular view of the majestic Himalayas- a panoramic view of a number of snow-covered, mighty peaks, including Bandarpooch, Shrikhand, Shrikant and Gangotri. The lush green- dense oak forests and vast swathes of grasslands- at an imposing altitude may seem an incredible wonder of nature. Flocks of sheep playing around care-free add to the idyllic beauty of this place.
Though the best season to visit Dayara Bugyal is from March to November, tourists prefer to visit in winter as well as it receives massive snowfall.
